LIBRA

Libra is represented by the symbol of the scales suggesting the desire for balance in relationships. In the old books it was said to be the sign of marriage and business partnerships. A more up to date interpretation is that of a peer relationship or two persons relating as equals. This includes marriage, living together, lawyer-client and business relationships. The focus is upon regularity of association and an agreement to meet each other’s needs for a period of time. Libra is the first of the relationship signs and as such requires negotiation to accommodate the needs of the other person. Aries is the first sign signifying pure self-interest. Libra is the seventh sign and is opposite Aries at the balance point of the zodiac, (or twelve principles), and represents the desire for sharing life experiences.

When you were born the Sun was in the sign Libra and you are known to be warm and friendly.  You enjoy being with people. A Libra without a partner is like a fish out of water. You need other people to give you feedback on how you are doing and to help you decide which of two choices is best. Your ability to see both sides will help in certain professions.  While you seek balance, it may be first up and then down in mood or activity before you find a place to take a stand. Some people accuse Libra of being lazy because they have not seen the hurried rush that led to the lethargy. Your bright intellect stirs lots of ideas that must be pursued. If you fail to take time for recharging others may see the grumpy side of Libra. Normally good-natured, you do love a good argument for mental exercise. You can take either side and have been known to switch sides in the middle with a casual, “On the other hand”…

Friends and partners who hold strong views will find this trait of weighing everything a little maddening. People who love you will point out that in the final analysis you always strive to be fair. People who wish to be included in your circle of friends must remember to honor your love of beauty; in colors, art, mellow music, and pleasant, clean surroundings. A lover who skips the pleasant fragrance, the candles and champagne as too much bother may find that you don’t bother to return calls. Your charm and heart-melting smile are legendary. It is hard for others to stay mad when caught in your gentle, calming gaze. The ability to bring harmony into the war zone of personal relationships will start at an early age.

As a child you may have taken on the role of the peacemaker between family members. You understand the concept of ‘social grace’ and someone in your early life will teach you to be nice. This can cause all kinds of trouble. As you get older, instead of speaking frankly, you may follow your training and be polite or nice instead of clear about the way you really feel. A friend may challenge, “I thought you wanted to go to that movie!” when she realizes you were bored to death. There is a high price to be paid for being nice instead of clear when the issue is much more important than which movie or restaurant to choose.

Your Libra nature functions best when not presented with too many choices. In order to understand the flavor of your Libra Sun sign, it is necessary to determine in which sign the planet Venus, your Sun sign ruler, is found. It is never far from the Sun so is likely in Virgo, Libra, or Scorpio. The Venus sign modifies the expression of the Libra principle.  Astrologers say the planet Venus “rules” the sign Libra. They mean that the activity of Venus is in harmony with the characteristics of the sign Libra. Your birthday and year will reveal your Venus sign. A chart calculated for the date, place and exact time of birth would give a more detailed and complete picture of you as a unique individual.
